THE INTERFACE / GESTURES

No button. Plenty of bottles.

The double helix is assembled from bent wooden strips around addressable LEDs, with miniature glass bottles acting as diffusers between the two spirals. A PAJ7620U sensor reads hand gestures, and a custom WLED usermod translates them into changes in colour and animation without adding a control panel to the sculpture. The electronics fit inside the circular wooden base, which also has to keep the entire helix upright. It is a lamp shaped like genetic material, controlled by waving at it, and therefore only slightly more complicated than a switch.
